Figures are Dell's published maximums from the WD25 display resolution table (DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3). Computers with Qualcomm processors support up to two displays (5120 × 2160 at 60 Hz single, 4K at 60 Hz dual). Linux shows one external display fewer than listed. Resolution support also depends on the monitor.

Ten ports. Nothing left over.

Video, USB and network on the back, quick-access USB on the front. Every USB port runs at 10 Gbps.

Built for the whole floor.

Dell's firmware, imaging and management tools cover the WD25 as well as the laptops it docks.

Managed firmware

Dell's firmware utility has a silent mode and an update-on-disconnect option for the dock EC. Dell Device Management Console can update the firmware while the dock is connected to a PC.

PXE boot

Network boot through the dock's Ethernet port, once PXE is enabled in the laptop's BIOS.

Kernel DMA protection

Dell lists Kernel Direct Memory Access (DMA) protection among the WD25's systems-management features.

Power button sync

On supported Dell computers, and non-Dell computers with USB Power Delivery 3.1, the dock's button works as the laptop's power button: on, sleep, wake.

Works with what you already own.

Dell lists Thunderbolt computers and USB-C computers with DisplayPort Alt Mode. Dell computers get up to 100 W; other computers get 96 W.

Questions we get asked.

Is the WD25 compatible with all laptops?

Dell states compatibility with USB-C Thunderbolt computers and USB-C computers with DisplayPort Alt Mode. Dell computers get up to 100 W; other computers get 96 W. Power-button sync works on supported Dell computers and on non-Dell computers with USB Power Delivery 3.1. MAC address pass-through and Wake-on-LAN depend on the laptop — Dell says to check the platform documentation.

Dell's supported operating systems are Windows 10 and 11, Ubuntu 24.04, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6+ and ChromeOS 137. macOS is not on that list, so we don't recommend the WD25 for Mac desks.

Will the dock charge my devices when the laptop isn't connected?

Yes. With the AC adapter connected, the USB ports charge devices even when no computer is attached: 15 W on the front USB-C, 7.5 W on the rear USB-C and 4.5 W on each USB-A.

A hardware installation window appears when I plug something in. Is that normal?

Yes. When a new USB device is connected, Windows identifies it and may show an installation window.

My devices stopped working after a power cut. What should I do?

The dock runs on AC power only and has to renegotiate power with the computer afterwards. Disconnect and reconnect the AC adapter at the back of the dock.

What if my displays don't detect, or flicker?

Use the cables that came in the box, check the monitor input, and keep resolutions within the table above. If your monitor has an MST (daisy-chain) function, turn it off for a single display. Make sure the latest BIOS and drivers for the computer and the dock are installed. For flicker, disconnect the USB-C cable and then the adapter, and reconnect the adapter before the computer.

What warranty comes with it?

It is covered by the AnyHDD 1-year warranty from the date of delivery, against defects in materials and workmanship and hardware failures under normal use.
